Dump the Dump Kids Party a great success!

The new-look campaign held its official launch party at the Downs Infant School on Ditchling Road, Brighton, on Saturday afternoon (April 23). The school, one of the biggest in the city, has a playground just ten metres from the depot, where hundreds of tons of stinking rubbish will be delivered every day if the depot goes ahead.

Around 200 parents, children and neighbours attended the party, where children designed posters (see below for the winning designs) and enjoyed a disco while adults learned more about the campaign and its aims.

Special T-shirts with logo designed by top cartoonist Harry Venning sold out, with orders for many more aken. A collection of protest letters also ensured that the planning office at Brighton and Hove Council will be kept busy in the run-up to the council’s planning hearing for the development, proposed by private waste management firm Onyx, on May 18.

If you would like to order a campaign T-shirt (pictured left and below), then please email us by clicking here (sizes: Small child, large child, large adult.)
